Souvenir Mining Spoon Golconda Mine | SOUVENIR MINING SPOON GOLCONDA MINE, BAKER CO., OR Sterling silver spoon, 5 3/8 in. long, engraved mining scene in bowl, bowl marked GOLCONDA MINE, BAKER CITY OR, handle front has floral decoration with dots down to the bowl and a miners gold pan with pick and shovel wrapped in sterling rope at top, reverse is marked Sterling and maker’s mark of Codding Bros. & Heilborn Co. (North Attleboro, MA. 1879-1918), excellent condition [The Golconda Mine is a historic gold mine located in Baker County, Oregon, approximately 5 miles north of the town of Sumpter. The mine is located along Fruit Creek, in the Powder River watershed. The Golconda Mine’s major period of activity was 1897-1904. There are approximately 7,000 feet of underground workings including a 510 foot shaft. Today, two adits at the level of Fruit Creek have been observed and both are collapsed and discharging water.
